Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist writer, journalist, and photographer who has reported on areas of war for over more than 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering and disasters. Curry has written about the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Her most renowned work was for being a correspondent of the Today Show, a daily morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry is known for her coverage of emergencies and disasters that affect the human condition, especially in countries which have suffered the effects of conflict. Curry was born in Japan and was raised by a Japanese mom. Her father was a U.S. Navy sailor. Her father dated her mother in Japan as a stationed there following World War II. Due to her father's service as a military officer that they had to move around a lot. Curry completed high school at Ashland Oregon. In 1978, she graduated from in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to a variety of cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy method of communication regarding issues of international significance. Curry's family was often moving and Curry did not stay in one school more than two years. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland is where she finally graduated from her high school. She paved her way for an impressive career when she started her broadcasting career by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first female news reporter at the station at the aged of just 22. Then she was promoted to the position of an anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. Then she returned in Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. It was during her time with the channel for a period of the duration of six years that she won two Emmy Awards.
